Casual PD Day Camp Leaders (Sept.-Jun.)

The Township of North Huron Recreation Department is seeking casual PD Day Camp Leaders to support children day camp programs throughout the school year (September to June) on scheduled school professional development (PD) days.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and support to children from the community enrolled in the PD Day Camp programs
• Plan and implement PD Day Camp program activities in consultation with the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor
• Supporting the diverse range of needs of all children
• Establish and maintain a stable, healthy and safe environment for children to enable them to contribute and participate in the PD Day Camp programs
• Be a mentor and role model to children by modelling appropriate behaviours and attitudes
• Provide age-appropriate activities that promote both child development and fun

Minimum Requirements:

• Secondary School/GED or equivalent (enrolled in or completed)
• Post Secondary Education in a field relating to recreational/leisure programs, children/youth, or equivalent considered an asset
• Previous experience working with children
• Availability to work from September to June on school PD days
• Current First-Aid & CPR Certificate
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a current criminal record check as a condition of employment

Rate of Pay: Band 2 ($17.20 - $20.69 per hour) plus vacation pay

Hours of Work: Subject to sufficient child enrolment in the North Huron Recreation PD Day Camp Programs throughout the year. The shifts will be up to 8 hours in length for pre-determined school PD Day dates as prescribed by the Ministry of Education for the 2024/2025 school year.

Before and After School Childcare (Multiple Positions) PT

Public Works Lead Hand (Perm Full-Time)

The Public Works Lead Hand is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective day- to-day implementation of Township public works construction, aggregate pit, cemetery services, parks, and maintenance programs. Key duties include supervising the work of the Public Works Roads and Cemetery Operators, Landfill Attendants, and seasonal staff to ensure that Township resources are maximized, and legislative requirements are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/ GED or Post- Secondary Education.
• Certified Road Supervisor.
• Ontario Good Roads Certificate considered an asset.
• Heavy Machinery certification considered an asset.
• Valid Class D driver’ s license with Z endorsement.

The ideal candidate will posses:

• Five (5) years of experience driving in a grader or other large heavy equipment.
• Supervisory experience in municipality or construction setting or other experience deemed equivalent by the Township Good interpersonal skills, including proven ability to be tactful and courteous when dealing with the public.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• In depth knowledge of heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance techniques.
• Working knowledge of the local public works by-laws, standards and levels of service.
• Working knowledge of the MTO standards, specifications and regulations.
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Working knowledge of construction practices and construction estimating.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Compensation Package:
Salary: $ 28.89 to $36.11 per hour (2025 Pay Grid)

The successful candidate must be prepared to work 40 hours per week and share on-call duties as needed.

Firefighter (2)

Are you looking for a rewarding experience supporting the public safety of a municipality? The Township of North Huron Fire Department is looking to add to their team!
Reporting to the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief, Firefighters are responsible for attending to fire calls, performing ground operations, search and rescue, protecting exposures, confining, controlling and extinguishing fires, salvaging and overhauling the structure and its contents, protecting lives, and minimizing property loss. Firefighters will also be responsible for operating fire apparatus safely and efficiently in accordance with department policies and procedures. Successful candidates will be required to attend weekly training as prescribed by the Chief and Deputy Chief.

Qualifications for Employment include:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid G Drivers Licence
• Must be willing to attend training and certification courses as required by the Township of North Huron Fire Department
• Must successfully complete the Township of North Huron Fire Departments recruitment program which consists of both mental and physical assessments
• Previous volunteer Firefighter experience and/or training would be considered an asset
