Notice: Transition to Flat Rate Water and Sewer Billing

Effective January 1, 2025, the Township of North Huron will transition from metered water and sewer billing to flat rate billing for all residential properties, in accordance with the motion passed at the September 16, 2024 Council meeting.

Key Changes:

  • Final Metered Bill: All residents receiving municipal water and/or sewer services will receive their final metered invoice for 2024 in early January.
  • Flat Rate Billing: Beginning January 1, 2025, all residential properties with municipal water and/or sewer services will transition to monthly flat rate billing. The first flat-rate invoice for the month of January will be issued in early February 2025.
  • Water Meters: While the billing structure will shift to a flat rate system, the existing water meters will remain installed at the property. These meters will no longer be used for billing purposes effective January 1, 2025.
  • In Care of Tenant Agreements: As of January 1, 2025, all "In Care of Tenant" agreements will be discontinued. Water and sewer invoices will be sent directly to the registered property owner, starting with the first flat-rate invoice for the month of January which will be issued in early February.

For detailed information on the new flat rate fees, please refer to the Township’s Fees and Charges By-law, available on the Township of North Huron website. For more information, or if you have questions, please contact the Township of North Huron Municipal Office.
