CENTRAL HURON APPROVES 5 YEAR FIRE AGREEMENT WITH NORTH HURON
Central Huron has approved a five year contract proposal from North Huron to have the Fire Department of North Huron (FDNH) provide fire and rescue services to residents and businesses in Central Huron. The new agreement will take effect on January 1, 2014.
“This long term agreement will help us complete the 5 year rebuild plan initiated in 2010 and in 2015 we’ll start to see savings that will be shared with our municipal partners as we move to a sustaining-oriented budget,” said North Huron Reeve Neil Vincent. “I know our 44 FDNH firefighters look forward to continuing to provide fire and rescue services to Central Huron for many years to come.”
"The Municipality of Central Huron is very pleased to enter into this partnership with the Township of North Huron,” said Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn. “This agreement will provide our residents with a long term sustainable plan for fire protection."
The Fire Department of North Huron provides fire and rescue services to Central Huron (Hullett Township) residents and businesses through an inter-municipal agreement. North Huron also has agreements with Morris Turnberry and Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh to provide fire and rescue services to areas of their municipalities.
