NORTH HURON HOSTS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS ANNUAL MEETING
The Township of North Huron is hosting this year’s Huron County Municipal Officers Association Annual General Meeting (AGM). This meeting is scheduled for this Friday April 11th and it will be held at the Blyth and District Community Centre.
Approximately 80-85 elected officials and municipal staff will be attending along with representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the Maitland Valley and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authorities. Ben Lobb MP and Lisa Thompson MPP are also confirmed to attend part of the program.
The theme of this year’s meeting is rural economic development and the agenda includes updates on the County’s Cultural Plan and Strategic Plan, profiles of local business success stories, and a presentation on the future of economic development governance in the County.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our municipal colleagues to Blyth and hosting this year’s AGM,” said Gary Long, North Huron’s CAO/Clerk and this year’s President. “Rural economic development is a key priority for our municipalities and we need to work together to grow our economy, and attract new residents and investment. The perception is often that we’re in competition with each other, when in fact other municipalities in the County are our partners. We need to collaborate on economic development.”
The Huron County Municipal Officers Association AGM is an opportunity for elected officials and municipal staff to meet annually for professional development, to share best practices, and discuss current challenges and opportunities.
