North Huron’s new Economic Development Committee Plots Strategy

North Huron’s new Economic Development Advisory Committee held their first meeting last week to discuss priorities and action items. The committee membership is confirmed as follows:

Community Representatives
Blyth Ward – Jeff Elliott
East Wawanosh Ward – John Beldman
Wingham Ward – Doug Kuyvenhoven, Jayme Sutherland

North Huron Council
Reeve Neil Vincent
Deputy Reeve Dave Riach (Blyth Ward)
Councillor Bernie Bailey (Wingham Ward)
Councillor Ray Hallahan (East Wawanosh Ward)

North Huron Staff
CAO/Clerk Gary Long
Community Development Coordinator Connie Goodall

The main purpose of the committee is to develop an economic development strategy and action plan that will: (1) support existing businesses, business associations, and our downtowns; and (2) attract residential, commercial, retail, and industrial development.

“Our first priority is to gather information and develop communications materials to help us promote North Huron as a desirable municipality to invest in,” said CAO/Clerk Gary Long. “The committee is keen to get started and build on the positive economic development and downtown revitalization initiatives already underway.”

The next meeting is scheduled for April 16 at 9:30am.
