Donation Requests

Cash and Non-Cash Donation Requests Procedure 

Requests for either cash or non-cash donations are required to be submitted in a letter to Council. Please address the request letter to - Attention: Clerk, Township of North Huron, 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON. N0G 2W0.

All letters requesting cash or non-cash donations are required to include the following

• Name of the recipient organization receiving the donation.
• Address and contact information of the recipient receiving the donation.
• Background details to substantiate the request (this may include an operating budget, project goals, past benefits received by the Township from your organization, description of your organization and its mission, and specifically how this impacts the Township of North Huron).

Please note, all requests for cash donations must be submitted to the Township of North Huron Clerk by no later than November 1^st for a request to be considered for the next calendar budget. Requests submitted after this date will be marked as late and provided to Council for information purposes. Late requests will be considered at the discretion of Council. 

The Township of North Huron budgets a maximum of $6,000.00 annually for cash donations to community groups. No single community group shall be eligible to received more than $2,000.00 as a donation from the Township of North Huron. 

All completed donation request letters can be submitted to the Clerk’s Department through one of the following methods:

• By email 
• In person at the Municipal Office at 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON N0G 2W0; or
• By regular mail to P.O. Box 90, 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON N0G 2W0.

Reduction Requests for Rentals Procedure

North Huron’s fees for service are established annually in the Township of North Huron Fees and Charges By-law. This by-law establishes reduced rates for community groups.

The reduced rate for community groups is North Huron’s donation to the organizing group. As facilities operate at a deficit in order to provide space and services at affordable rates, no further reduced rate will be awarded for rentals or services in North Huron. 

As set out in the North Huron Donations and Fee Waiving Policy, a community group is defined as a non-profit organization established for the purpose of community betterment. Community groups eligible for a reduced rate include

• Minor sports groups
• Not-for-profit youth-based activity groups (i.e. scouts, girl guides)
• Government funded health services
• Local community service clubs
• Fundraising organizations where the primary focus is donating to a North Huron community-based project
• Wingham and/or Blyth BIA events
• Registered not-for-profit or charitable organizations
• Events hosted by a Committee of Council
• School Boards (for rentals excluded from a joint use agreement) 

If you are a community group eligible to receive a reduced rate for rentals, please inform North Huron staff at the time of the rental booking. 

Fee Waving Requests Procedure

If you are an eligible community group and would like to submit a fee waving request to Council, please provide a letter to the Clerk’s Department through one of the following methods:

• By email 
• In person at the Municipal Office at 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON N0G 2W0; or
• By regular mail to P.O. Box 90, 274 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON N0G 2W0.

Please note, all letters requesting for a fee to be waived by Council are required to include the following:

• Name of the organization requesting for the fee to be waved.
• Reason for requesting the fee to be waived.
• Address and contact information of the requestor.
• Background details to substantiate the request (this may include an operating budget, project goals, description of your organization and its mission, and specifically how this impacts the Township of North Huron).
