North Huron is committed to serving your disposal needs. We partner with Waste Management to provide curbside garbage and recycling collection. All material must be set curbside no later than 7:00 A.M. on the specific collection dates outlined in the curbside collection schedule below.
2024/2025 Curbside Collection Schedule
This landfill site only accepts waste from North Huron residents. If you are a contractor hauling on behalf of a North Huron resident, you will be required to fill out a contractor dumping form. Proof of residency will be requested upon entrance into the landfill.
Curbside Recycling Bins are available for purchase at the North Huron Town Hall (274 Josephine St. Wingham).

Landfill operating hours
The North Huron landfill site is located at 39601 Reid Road, Wingham ON, N0G 2W0. The current hours of operation are:
Tuesday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Friday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Closed Friday, March 29th (Good Friday)
Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Open Saturday, March 30th
Disposal fees
Please refer to Schedule E in the current fees and charges by-law. All tipping fees must be paid at the landfill site at time of dumping. Acceptable payment methods are cash, cheque or debit.
To set up a Contractors charge account at the North Huron landfill please fill out the Credit Application and submit it to publicworks@northhuron.ca.
Materials accepted free of charge include; recyclable material, clean wood, compostable material, fill clay, topsoil, metal and tires. These items must be separated and the landfill attendant will direct you to the individual collection sites on location.
Electronic waste
Acceptable electronic waste items may be dropped off free of charge at the North Huron landfill site. Any appliance must be tagged freon-removed.
Hazardous waste
The hazardous waste depot for North Huron residents is located at the Mid-Huron Recycling Centre. The address is 37506A Huron Road (highway 8), Holmesville Ontario, N0M 1L0. The current hours of operation are:
Tuesday 8:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
Wednesday 8:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
Thursday 8:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
Friday 8:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.

Where do I get bag tags?
North Huron bag tags can be purchased at many retail locations around North Huron. One tag is required per bag. Bags must not exceed forty (40) pounds, and must be set curbside in a clear bag.

North Huron offers Spring and Fall collection dates for leaf and organic yard waste. All leaf and organic yard waste must be placed curbside in organic yard waste bags before 7:00 A.M. on the scheduled collection date(s) set by the Municipality. To inquire about scheduled collection dates for organic refuse please contact us at publicworks@northhuron.ca. Any yard waste left at the curb after the final pickup date will be subject to a minimum charge of $50.00 (fifty) dollars as regulated by the Solid Waste Management By-law 14-2021. No bag must exceed forty-five (45) pounds. |
