Township of North Huron: Notice of Passing of a Development Charges By-law
Pursuant to the Development Charges Act 1997, the Council of the Township of North Huron has passed a Development Charges By-law.
By-law No. 74-2021 passed on September 20, 2021, sets out a range of charges to be collected from new development. The development charge by-law applies to all new residential and non-residential development within the boundaries of the Township of North Huron. The development charges are calculated on a “per unit” basis for residential development and a “square metre” basis for non-residential development. A key map has not been provided with this Notice, but descriptions of the service areas are included in the By-law.
The following table (Table 1) summarizes the development charges for single detached units for the different service areas. The services being collected for through development charges include Sanitary Sewage, Water, Stormwater, Roads, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Daycare and Administration. The charges for other types of units are available in Schedule A of the Bylaw. Table 2 summarizes the non-residential development charges.

A copy of By-law No.74-2021 may be examined at the Municipal Town Hall Office, 274 Josephine Street, Wingham Ontario, during regular office hours (weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) or on the municipal website at www.northhuron.ca
Any person or organization may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal under Section 14 of the Act, in respect of the development charge by-law, by filing with the Clerk of the Township of North Huron on or before the 1th day of November, 2021 a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection. The appellant is advised to contact the Ontario Land Tribunal to access the required forms and applicable Provincial fees.
