Proof of Vaccination Requirements For North Huron’s Indoor Recreation Facilities, Meeting Spaces, Halls and Theatres
Earlier this month the province announced new requirements that apply to businesses and organizations, including municipalities, to support the province in implementing proof of vaccination requirements. The new requirements apply to indoor and outdoor sports and recreational fitness activities including all amateur sport leagues, facility operators, meeting spaces, halls and theatres.
Reeve Bernie Bailey says, “The safety of residents is North Huron’s number one priority and vaccination protects individuals in higher-risk indoor settings. North Huron must comply with provincial regulations and proof of full vaccination with photo ID is required to enter North Huron’s recreation facilities.”
As of September 22, 2021, the following requirements apply to all of North Huron’s indoor recreational facilities;
- The total number of people in a North Huron Recreational Facility must not exceed 50% of the capacity of the facility.
- The total number of spectators in a North Huron Recreational Facility must not exceed 50% of the usual indoor seating capacity.
- All indoor spectators must wear a mask at all times and maintain at least 2 metres distance.
- All players, coaches and volunteers not actively participating in physical activities are required to wear masks while indoors.
- Everyone entering the facility must be actively screened and their name and contact information recorded.
- Sport participants, coaches, spectators and volunteers are asked to arrive no more than 30 minutes before their scheduled activity and to leave within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the activity.
- Prior to entry into a North Huron Recreation Facility for sports activities, events and meetings, individuals must provide proof of full vaccination (two doses plus 14 days) with photo ID. Exemptions include:
-
- Workers, contractors, repair workers, delivery workers, students, volunteers, inspectors or others who are entering for work purposes and not as patrons;
- Retail
- Patrons entering or accessing critical services (e.g., washrooms, food distribution programs, warming/cooling centres, etc.)
- Children under 12 years of age
- Patrons ages 12 -17 years old who are entering the facility used for sport and recreational fitness activities solely for the purpose of participating in an organized sport. This applies to training, practices, games and competitions including sports leagues, organized pick-up sports, dance classes, martial arts and swimming classes
- Patrons with a medical exemption and a written document from a physician (designated MD) or registered nurse extended class or nurse practitioner
Failure to provide proof of full vaccination with photo ID will result in denied access to the facility.
North Huron is in the process of developing a Workplace Vaccination Policy for staff.
“The delta variant poses a serious risk to the lives of our residents and I strongly urge all residents to continue following Public Health guidelines to protect themselves and their families” says Reeve Bailey.
Public Health encourages residents to:
- limit social gatherings
- frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth
- avoid close contact with people who are sick
- cover your cough or sneeze
- keep a 2 meter distance from others
- self-isolate for 14 days if you are returning from out of country
- visit the Huron Perth Public Health website for additional information and guidance.
