Fire Inspections
The Fire Department of North Huron conducts routine fire inspections on schools and vulnerable occupancies on an annual basis. We will do a fire inspection if a request is made to assist a property owner or occupant to comply with the Fire Code or when a complaint is received regarding the fire safety of a property.
How to book a fire inspection:
The Fire Department of North Huron has a part time Fire Prevention Officer and he should be contacted regarding any fire inspections that need to be preformed or for anyone wishing information regarding the Fire Code or Fire Safety in general. Types of Inspections:
Below is a list of inspection services provided by the Fire Department. When booking a fire inspections, we must have at least 2 weeks notice prior to any deadlines or real estate closing dates.
- Fire Code inspection on request
- Fire Code compliance inspections of all occupancies from residential to Industrial/Commercial
- Fire safety complaints
- Investigating situations that may be of risk of fire or fire related personal injury
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario inspections
- Occupant load calculations
- Determine the maximum number of persons in a building that can safely evacuate in fire or emergency situation. Occupant load is determined by the type of occupancy (e.g. school, banquet hall) and the building construction
- Firework permits
- Retail outlet inspection for retail sales of fireworks
- Pyrotechnics permits
- Special Occasion site inspections for discharge of display fireworks
- Fire code alternative solution proposals
- Alternative solution proposals by engineers/architects to gain compliance with Ontario Fire Code.
- Legislated vulnerable occupancy inspections
- Annual building inspections and staff evaluations on evacuation procedures to ensure proper resident safety
- Property file searches
- File searches of previous issues for Real Estate transactions, ensuring buyer protection.
