Winter control
We provide a high level of snow removal service using both municipal staff and contractors, following the Province's Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways. During the winter months we patrol daily to monitor the conditions of our roadways and sidewalks, and to prepare responses for winter events. We receive and monitor various weather reports to assist us in planning operational responses.
Snow removal
When we get less than eight centimeters of snow, we begin salting, sanding and scraping all roadways and sidewalks as required. If there is more than eight centimeters of snow, we plow all roadways and sidewalks beginning with the priority routes followed by the secondary routes. For more information you can view our winter operations plan.
County highways
County highways are patrolled by the County of Huron public works department. These highways include Highway 4 (Queen Street in Blyth and Josephine Street in Wingham, Highway 86, and Belgrave Road.
